Cape Town, 22 August 2023 – Shakatak, the legendary English jazz-funk band, is returning to Cape Town for just one show on Saturday, 30 September, as part of their 40th anniversary world tour.
Before the wall of hits plays out, punters will have the pleasure of old-school disco diva Vuvu Kumalo featuring Soul Select’s company.
Known and respected for her powerful multi-octave vocal deliver and impressive on-stage presence, Vuvu is no stranger to GrandWest, Artscape and The Baxter, having shared stages with the likes of Sybil, Tevin Campbell, Peaches and Herb, as well as Chad Saaiman, Lukmaan Adams and James Benjie amongst many more.
Supporting Vuvu on the night will be the incomparable Soul Select, the uniquely gifted group of musicians, each delivering their slice of hip, young and jazzy sounds.
Their sound ranges from classic standards to contemporary jazz, afro-pop, R&B, funk, and the latest dance and party grooves.
Between Vuvu Kumalo and Soul Select leading the charge when Shakatak takes to the stage, expect to be entertained with a raft of hits and memories.
