THE PLOEMIES DEBUT ALBUM “UNFINISHED BUSINESS” OUT NOW

An ode to Cape Jazz and beyond. 

The release of the highly anticipated  debut album from The Ploemies, Unfinished Business, is finally here. 

The dynamic four piece  band (pictured below ) is:  Bradley Prince – Guitar, Duncan Johnson – Saxophone, Shaun Johannes – Bass guitar and Keno Carelse on Drums.

The band  encapsulates the vibrant and evolving sound of South African jazz, specifically  Cape Jazz in the music they play. 

Each member of the band  brings a distinct musical voice, creating a dynamic yet cohesive sound that honours the roots of South African jazz while pushing its boundaries. The album features eight instrumental tracks, including seven original compositions by the band members and one cover, Sak Sakkie, written by the late Nick Le Roux. 

The album is a heartfelt celebration of heritage, creativity, and innovation aimed at introducing the richness and future potential of South African jazz to a global audience.

Influences across the African continent and beyond are woven throughout the album’s textures, including Ghoema (South Africa), Marabenta (Mozambique), Kwassa-Kwassa (Congo), and Salsa (Cuba), among others.

 These rhythms and styles blend seamlessly into the band’s jazz fusion repertoire, delivering a listening experience that is both grounded and exploratory.
